Just to add to potpurri of ideas, myth, opinion, quotes etc. on this-going
along with what Tom Warner is saying the same holds true for pretty much
all areas of manufacturing. The same holds true in the food industry-For
example Government standards allow a very small percentage of "dirt"
mouse droppings, hair and what have you in canned foods such as
soup, beans and other products. As distastful as it might seem, in
practical terms it is well nigh impossible to totally eliminate a very
small percentage. Likewise in making bearings with a given lathe it will
put out only to a given accuracy depending how accurate it is ,and a
second lathe may be a bit different depending on how accurate and old it
is, and so on and so on.
So for my money I buy Cinnabar bearings, and I eat my soup, but don't
think about what may be in it! On the soup if you don't believe me, go
ask an inspector.
