I'm about ready to start putting the front of this 455 back together and
need to know if anyone has a part number for the biggest alternator I can
toss back into the same "hole" the OEM came out of WITHOUT reworking any
mounting brackets or beefing up the electrics downstream of the alternator.?

Re. the rad, need part numbers for a new rad -- sans the oil and tranny
cooler galleys (going with separate coils, piping for these functions) -- to
replace the OEM rad.

And if anyone has any comments -- pro or con -- re. the aux cooling systems
(oil/tranny) I'd welcome any of that dialog as well.

In the alternative, perhaps some of you could point me to sites where I
could get this info.

Just sent in my membership to GMC Intl but not yet active.

Got a few bucks burning a hole in the old pocket and want to put it into the
GMC BEFORE my bridely person finds an alternative home for it. :-)

Thanks

I am really stretching what little technical expertise I have but when I
had my Alt rebuilt the service folks told me there is some problem going
with more output than the stock 80-105 amps. Is this correct or not?

Check with a local rebuild shop. I have had mine checked and have been told that
you could easily use your case but change the windings and the stator to beef it
up to 175 amps. It's worth the price of the drive to check it out. Darren

Thanks

Rick,
What size (gauge) wire do you recommend for replacing the stock 10ga "wimpy" wire
from the alternator to isolator?
