This is a summary of the conversation I have had with GM Website
concerning Cinnabar. Not that I have stock in Cinnabar, but their
presence on the 'net would be a help to us all. Imagine a fully
automated system that we could order parts and get prices that Jim
Bounds et al could blow away!

Dear GM Webmaster:

Re:
http://www.gm-restorationparts.com/ewopg/consumer/Search_Result_for_Parts.asp

I have been surfing through your website, mainly looking for information

on a new Chevrolet Tracker to tow behind my GMC motorhome. I like the
format and find it easy to use.

I am curious as to why your webpage dedicated to GM Restoration Parts
does not route people looking for 1973-77 GMC Classic motorhome parts to

Cinnabar, the GM licensed distributor? Cinnabar has most of the parts
necessary to repair/restore these classics. There as many as 10,000 of
them still on the road and many groups dedicated to their preservation
and restoration. In fact, there is a registry that has over 6000
coaches listed on it.

Pointing folks from your website to Cinnabar would help us encourage
people to restore these classic coaches, which were well ahead of their
time. These aerodynamic vehicles have continued to impress people with
their advanced styling even 27 years later.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I
would be happy to point you to an appropriate contact.

RESPONSE I
We have asked Cinnabar to participate in the Restoration Parts web site
and

the

RESPONSE TO INQUIRY OF WHY DIDNT THEY PARTICIPATE
The feedback we received from the Trademark and Licensing group at GM
was that Wes felt he did not need the web site; that his customers knew
where he was and how to contact him. This was in August of 1998. We do
plan on
revisiting this issue with him as the site has been operational since
January
1999.

Cinnabar's licensed products would certainly add to the product
offerings on
the site and we would welcome him as an involved supplier.

Thank you for your follow up email.

Nice try, Ron.

I, too, have tried to coax Cinnabar into the 20th century. Wes will have
no part of it.

He's just stuck in time and is very fearful that someone is going to get
part of his cash cow (Us!). I also get the distinct impression that he
considers his customers as idiots without a clue or any common sense what
so ever. On the other hand, he offered to "consider" allowing me to link
to his web site, if and when he ever got one. Makes me wonder who else
hasn't got a clue.

My Opinion, of course. Thanks for trying.

well we should not be too harsh.

We all like to run our own businesses. I still am very happy that he is
there and I can get the correct parts from him.

If you remember, we are 400 max on GMCnet and the other 4,000 to 6,000 are
not on here. He might be right.....we might be wrong.

GMC MOTORHOME INFORMATION
mr.erf

If enough of us try, and GM tries, maybe we can make some headway. It is sad that
a vehicle so far ahead of it's time is supported by someone so far behind it.

I have been quick to use internet based vendors. They have been my first contact
point for most purchases in the last three years and I am sure most of us on the
GMCnet. I am sure that (god forbid) there are some GMC owners not on the GMCnet,
though I dont know why.

If you were a vendor who could touch 600 or more customers out of a customer base
of 6000 or so and your competition was doing so, wouldn't you at least have one
page stuck somewhere? I searched in vain for several days until I gave up.
Settled for a phone number.

Je ne comprend pas.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm glad the company's there too. I'm part of the
captive audience dependant on the products and services offered (Cash Cow).

King of the Internet,
last of the good guys,
preaching to the choir.

thats' who I am talking to ;>)

we just spent a lot of time this weekend trying to find the wrong parts to
fix up a GMC. It is really hard to find the right stuff when you need it.
Take a look at Posey's note, take the right numbers to Napa and you get the
wrong stuff. Just makes you tired.

Gene, you are right, I dont know his business. I am glad he is around. Maybe it
is because I have not been at any rallys and only have been an owner for a short
time. I don't feel the same excitement from Cinnabar for our coaches as we
have, Jim Bounds has or any of the smaller vendors from Guske to Adohen etc.
do. Maybe I just havent seen it, maybe they had it 20 years ago.

Ron,
Actually if you were to visit Cinnabar I think that you would find Ivan and the
people that do the work there to be very "Pro GMC" and still excited about the
Motorhome. I've been treated well there in the past (even while they have quietly
emptied my wallet). They're good people too. So are the folks across the street at
Buskirks.

I've never met Wes C. so I can't say anything about him one way or another. I
suspect that he is a good businessman trying to make a reasonable profit on what
potentially is a very risky business. He swallowed a lot when he took over the
Motorhome Parts from GMC. I know he bought the stuff for pennies on the dollar, but
he still had to put up the dollars. I'm glad they are there, just like I'm glad
that Buskirk, the Coop and the other places are there that cater to our hobby.
