Ok, so I've read some of your trip reports and am kinda working a trip up in my head. I'm approaching retirement and want to take a trip to a National
Park. I was watching "Aerial America" becuase I love the fly overs and the info it gives for potential destinations. They had Glacier National Park
featured and talk of the "Sun Road" is a must do. The way they were talking about it was it had a lot of hair pin turns and was very dicey to drive.
Will our motorhomes be able to do that kind of thing?

Hi Tom

Going-to-the-Sun road has a 21’ restriction. However, you can park at one end and take a free shuttle up it.
Google Glacier National Park for for information.

Glacier is well worth the trip. I have been up there and back several times both in the motorhome and in my Blazer. They have a length restriction
of something in the low 20 foot range. There is only one real tight turn on the west side. I ignored it and went anyway. I expect that you might be
in trouble with the park cops if you GMC broke down. If you choose to ignore the restriction drive it from.

I suggest that you ride the free shuttle. I have never been on it, but there were lots of them running. If you are going to camp in the park, get
there in the morning as they are usually full before noon. If you have or can get a handicap placard, put it in the window and ask for handicap
camping. These spaces were never full and are held open until 6 PM. After 6PM they open the unused handicap spots to the general public for one days
only. Handicap card or plate will let you stay the normal length of time for all of the other spots.

If all else fails there is a National Forest campground (no hook ups) that is never full. It is located on the south side of US 2 on the south side
outside of the park. I believe it is called Summit Campground. I have stayed there several times while attending the Glacier Hamfest just down the
road at the KOA.

Enjoy your trip.

Cool cool. This trip like it will be goog. Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like the old motorhome will get parked and we'll take the shuttle up.

And congratulations on retirement!
There's a lot in the US and Canada to check out.

This summer I did Arches National Park, Four Corners, Mesa Verde, all driving the 26' GMC. I even drove it up from the bottom of Mesa Verde about 25
miles up to the ruins. Those roads aren't bad, but it was an adventure. I do wish I had a "toad" sometimes, but I still had a blast

Keep us informed on the trip.

We are looking at a longer gmc trip this next summer. Maybe rapid city/rushmore, as that is closet and easy for us. But a voice in my head is
telling me time goes by quick and I should make the trek to glacier or even yellowstone. Glacier in my mind seems easier and less crowded and less
schedule/plannjng to adhear to, then yellowstone, and save a trip to yellowstone for another year.

Jim,

As long as you keep busy and have a sharp mind you're an asset!

My dad spent the last 15 years of his life researching and writing a book and passed away just short of 90. I think that kept him alive.

Jim, 75 is merely an envious beginning. I propose to check out at 100, victim of a nasty case of Bridge Abutment.

Thanks on the retirement congrats. Really looking forward to some of these trips. Have really been debating putting a Howell TNI system on if I'm
going to be climbing all over some mountains with her. Know say the Quad setup I have now is fine.
