While going through one of my electronics
catalogs (Markertek) today, I happened across
a photo that contained several mobile
audio/video production trucks, one of which
is/was a GMC.
The logo "81 WGY" was emblazoned across
the small part of the side that was visible in the
picture. Curious, I checked on the Web for a
radio station with those call letters, and found
WGY, 810 AM Albany, NY.
I sent an email to the Program Director inquiring
as to the status of the GMC in the photo. I
mentioned the registry and gave him the URL,
with an invitation to either check out the registry
or send me some info on the coach.
Later today, I got a nice email from him.
Unfortunately, the GMC is no longer employed
by the station. Apparently, it was put into service
in 1978, and retired in 1991. So, he had no
other info on it other than that.
Perhaps someone in the Albany area
remembers seeing the unit, or even knows of its
existence/whereabouts/status. Possibly even a
GMC-netter owns it today. (?)
Just a light weight matter of curiosity. Might be
kind of nice to find it, or find out its fate.
Cheers!
