GenSet replacement ( again ;-)

My EV6010 in Sacramento fell through so I'm on the prowl again.

Thought I'd check to see if any bargains or thoughts pro and con re Honda or
any other brand are lurking in the wings.

The big thing with the Honda is the the EV6010 and EV4010 are watercooled,
which in itself should make them quiter.

Any other Honda would be aircooled I believe and therefore noisier.

Cinnebar does a Generac Kit (I think) and they claim it's quieter than the
Honda with their special enclosure. That special enclosure makes it an item
only for Cinnebar to install, i.e. not recommended for do-it-youselfers.

They're a long 'ways away from me so the Honda seems a likely choice.

I think I've seem them around 25-2600 dollars.
I wonder how many are considering a Honda in their future. Perhaps we can
negotiate with one of the smaller dealers (or the bigger ones) and have a
GenSet fest somewhere :-)

I'm going to have to do something soon as my Onan gave up altogether.

You may want to take into consideration in your replacement planning
schedule that according to recent newspaper stories, due to Y2K concerns,
generators are in short supply. I would guess that supply affects prices???

baffled me, an I would welcome any enlightenment on, is the following:

Good point. Another thing to worry about :-)

Is there anyone on the net that has installed the Cinnebar Solution, i.e.
Generac (or know someone that has ? ).

I just got my EV6010 last week. Won't have time to install before the
Myrtle Beach Rally, but I purchased it due to the run on Generators overall
(due to the public's unfounded fear of the Y2K problem). The dealer I
purchased from said that Honda has sold their entire available production
for the next year and had stopped taking orders for the 'consumer' line of
generators. I did confirm this with my local dealer and one other WEB vendor.

I purchased mine at $2500 (with Muffler) with $80 shipping from IA to NC.
Spent$100 for remote start (with hourmeter)and wiring harness. I have
opened it up and I am impressed! It is liquid cooled with a small radiator
and a computer that does everything from throttle mgmt to diagnostic
monitoring for coolent temp, oil pressure, low coolent, low oil level and
overall engine temp.
