Sounds like the diode bridge rectifier is blown. This can happen
suddenly if you shut down the generator while there is a load on it (like
the A/C). There may be some info on Gene's site. I can't help you much
without doing some research myself.

I have had this problem for two reasons:

1) Check the circuit breaker on the top of the unit. Mine had a catastrophic
failure (IE not just tripped, but fried to a crisp) and had to be replaced.

2) The bridge rectifier may have failed. If this is the case, there are some
'generic' replacements that have been listed here, or Onan may have the
original plug-compatible part (they did 18 months ago when mine failed).
If you get the replacement, you will need to rework the connector, and as
such, the original part is much easier to install. It is inside the
actual generator housing at the rear right of the unit, as you face it.
This CAN be replaced with no more than a screwdriver, and possible a pair
of pliers (as I recall) in 10 minutes or so. (I know, I changed mine on the
road on the fly when the breaker failed, but before I figured out that the
failure really was just a breaker.) I would also suggest putting some
heat sink compund on the new part to enable it to cool to the genset
casting more efficiently.
