When I was talking to my local electronics guys about a
30 volt .8 amp gate control rectifier their eyes glazed
over.

When I gave them the numbers that duane gave
me ..........2N5061 or 2N5064 they said.......no problem
they would have them in a couple of days.

Just goes to show you that even if you can't walk the
walk (I wouldn't know a gate control rectifier from a
transister) you still have to talk the talk.

Emery, earlier this winter I replaced most of the
components (including the capacitors) on the circuit
board. I have been chasing an intermitent problem.
Finally the gate control rectifier quite working full time
instead of just sometimes.

I wish I would have sent the board to Duane last
September.

I still may have to send it across the border to Duane
(If the board doesn't start cooperating soon)

Thanks to Duane, Ron, Tom and Emery for all your help so
far. Given the way it has been going I might be calling
for more.

"Digikey ( www.digikey.com ) shows a .8A 30V
SCR as part number 2N5060 (made by Teccor)
for 89 cents Canadian"

MRO in Calgary is a NTE reseller, sorry I don't
have their phone number handy. I will be in that
area of town tomorrow, I will check if they have
one. They can get the infamous bridge rectifier
for the field excitation, it is about $18.00C.

Thanks Dave I will contact them if my guy in
Edmonton falls through

As far as the infamous bridge rectifier goes I was
able to get that from my local guy for 3 or 4 dollars
(Canadian) as I recall. Looks like he is good for
price even if he can't translate for me.

"S'cuse my ignorance - are you referring to the "bridge
rectifier" ??"

No.

The bridge rectifier is located inside the generator
case.

The gate control rectifier is located on the circuit board
and, I am hopeful that replacement will fix the problem
that, up until a few days ago, has been intermittent.
