Gate Control Rectifier on Onan Circuit Board

One outstanding part for replacement
on my Onan circuit board is the Gate
Control Rectifier.

On the net I was able to find a part number
NTE5400 for a 30 Volt .8 amp gate control
rectifier.

All the other parts have been locally available
but this one is a real struggle.

I decided to tackle this circuit board myself
to save the hassle of sending across the
border to Duane Simmons in California.
However I may have to give in and resign
myself to paying the "broker fee" associated
with getting it back into Canada from UPS.

Before I give up does anybody know of a
good mail order electronics supplier out there
or some other way that I can get this rectifier?

I assume that you have tried Newark Electronics, I think they are about
the biggest. Their search engine sucks (oops) but they have alot of
stuff. Never let me down yet.

I would send a note directly to Duane, I would guess he would tell you
where to get the part. He is good about that.

Hi Gary

Digikey ( www.digikey.com ) shows a .8A 30V SCR as part number 2N5060 (made by Teccor) for 89 cents
Canadian

MRO in Calgary is a NTE reseller, sorry I don't have their phone number handy. I will be in that
area of town tomorrow, I will check if they have one. They can get the infamous bridge rectifier
for the field excitation, it is about $18.00C.

Probably not - there is a small SCR pn the control board as part of the low
oil pressure shutdown circuit, and is can fail - I had to replace mine.

I used the NTE two years ago, and it works fine. A lot of electronic
supply houses carry the NTE line, so it should not be too hard to find. If
you can't come up with a source of a part, let me know - I have several places
here in Dallas that carry NTE and do mailorder.
