Gastank Senders

I am just getting ready to remount my 'RENU'ed gastanks and thought I would
check the Gas gauge sending units before mounting. I cleaned the wire
connectors in the rubber boot (which were badly corroded) and hooked up the
senders. ----> Nothing! the gauge reads 'FULL' all the time which is the
correct reading if the senders were not connected. So I removed the senders
and connected a jumper from the 'bullet' connector to ground and the gauge
reads 'EMPTY'. according to the book this means that the wiring to the
gauge is OK. Open circuit reads FULL grounded circuit reads EMPTY..
So I tried to test the sending units with a Fluke multi meter for Ohm
readings and got nothing. When removed, 1 worked OK and the other always
read FULL ( due to corrosion I suspect).

Now the bad part Cinnabar does have any to sell, and said they could
possibly get these rebuilt for me. Any suggestion from the Listers as to
what I missing or maybe a source for replacements or repairs??

Thom,
Golby has new semders in stock. I would not use a used or rebuilt
sender, I don't think you really want to drop the tanks again if
something goes wrong. Golby also has the seals, use new ones.

I would of course suggest replacing the 56 feet or so fo feed, vent, and
fill lines to the tank. There a few unusual sized hoses to replace that
may be hard to find. If you need help locating the parts, give me a
