Gas Tank Selector Valve

This is my first email to this list. I’ve been reading the emails for a few years now, but never commented or sent anything until now. I hope I’m doing it right.

My tank selector valve works fine but it is not getting power when I set the tank selector switch to auxiliary tank. What should I check? I tried looking for a schematic online but haven’t found one.

Looks like you have a 1973, so they are at the top of the list. Get both the engine (Chassis) and the house wiring diagrams while you are at it.

The selector switch is a double pole switch. One side selects which tank sender gets connected to the gas gauge and the other side sends 12V to the
selector valve when in the Aux position.

You do need to replace it if original as the rubber inside will give
problems.

What Jimmy the K said. Also, the rather expensive valve from a 300 six '85 F - 150 will work. If I ever put a rear tank back in mine, I'll put the
valve in and the switch, both of which have been removed before I got it. Replacing the rear tank requires removing or at least lifting the bed from
the frame. Not gonna happen unless I want to go traveling in it.

Thanks Jim. I do have a new valve I bought from you. I tested it and it works fine. The hot wire to the valve is not getting power. I was hoping it was a bad fuse I missed, but it looks like I’m going to have to trace the wire. The gas gauge are working for both tanks. Am I missing something?
