Still on the search for a complete answer, but here goes more information
for those who are interested.
Sometimes after a fuel stop the interior of the MH will smell strongly of
gasoline. Other times nothing. I ordered the new stainless steel fuel/vapor
separator from Cinnabar. I don't think that it's necessary in general since
it's pretty easy to clean up the existing unit. But, freeing the ball in
teh separator didn't help.
If you look real closely at the neck area around the fuel fill you'll see
that the neck and side of the coach have a little gap between them. The
fuel line runs down the sidewall just inside the plastic covering. What is
happening is that any gas spilled in the filler area seeps under the coach
wall and runs down INSIDE the coach. There's one real good reason to keep
all flames off when refueling!
I tried refueling a few gallons short of a full tank yesterday. No spills.
No smell. I'm going to try sealing the area to see of that takes care of
most of the problem.
One fo the guys at Nor-Cal GMC told me that his coach would sometimes smell
faintly of gas when vapors from the filler came up the window and in
through either an open drivers side window or through the small weep holes.
