First, today the price in Toronto is 78.9 cents a litre. We're told (by the
"friendly" feds that controls the tax) that we can expect $1 a litre or
more by summer. Now, let's do the Canadian math for gas U.S. comparison.

1. A gallon is 4.4 litres. Thus $3.4716 an imperial gallon.
2. Imperial gallon is approximately 10% larger than a U.S. gallon
3. Thus to compare to U.S., cost per gallon in CDN dollars is $3.1244
4. Now convert the Canadian dollar to U.S. (using yesterdays rate) and you
have....$2.10 U.S. a U.S. gallon. So I guess now you know where the U.S.
gas price is probably headed. But remember, it's $4.25 U.S. in England, and
just over $5.00 U.S. in most of Europe. I filled up (the car) in Niagara
Falls, NY the other day at $1.56 U.S.

Appreciate your math on gas prices. One question from a
Maritimer.......Where's Ta-ron-a? (snicker, snicker)

Hello GMC'ers:

I checked several stations here in the east valley area of Phoenix today --
all were less than $1.40/gal. I filled up at Costco 2 or 3 days ago -- less
than $1.30/gal.

I'm not complaining but the wide variations in gasoline pricing is a
complete mystery to me, as well as to many of you I'm sure. As far as I
know all gasoline sold in the Phoenix area comes in by pipeline from LA.
One story that always circulates is that if the west coast refineries have a
surplus they dump it into the pipeline and Phoenix benefits from lower cost.
Don't know if there is any truth to that.

Lordy, we live in the wrong place. The average price
for regular is $1.799. The best price we saw in
Duluth, Wisconsin and the Twin Cities this past
weekend was $1.739. And most say it will be over
$2.00 by the 4th.

Jim,
You think you live in the wrong place! Right as we speak gas prices are
moving up from $2.09 to who knows where. It's been said our prices
could go up $.10 a day for the next few days. Will we be over $2.50
for the 4th of July? Only time will tell.

Most of us here in Michigan would be thrilled to pay $1.799 for regular
at this point in time.

This afternoon I'm heading out in the GMC to try and find some cheap
gas. I hear that there is a station not too far away where the gas it
at the bargain price of $1.999. Of course they'll probably have run out
by the time I get there :^(

Oh and the prices are for regular.

Hi Shawn,

Read in this mornings newspaper that prices climbed 8.82 cents a gallon the
last three weeks due to a new kind of reformulated gas. They also said
average price for reg. in Chicago was 2.13, Nationwide avg. for Reg. 1.6723
compared to 1.5841 on May 19.
