Larry, I, too, think your "vapor dohinky" is not working correctly.
Actually, it is a float valve whose purpose is to prevent liquid gasoline
from going to the canister. I have not opened one, so I don't know if they
are serviceable. If it can not be replaced, I would try to cut it open and
see if it can be cleaned or repaired. The case is plastic, and can be glued
back together.
