I just found this tonight so I cant tell you much about it. Here it is
Custom instrumentation... they say they do custom dashes for GMC
Motorhomes. They dont seem to be on the net but here is a phone #
1 800 GMC PNEL . I hate phone # that are letters. Oh BTW these
are digital dashes.

Take Care

I'd like to add some additional instruments to my 1977 Royale,
specifically transmission oil temp, battery/amp meter and tach. Any
suggestions for what other gages might be useful?
Recommendation for sources and installation advice? How about size, 2
inch...5inch : )
For those who added additional gages, where did you put them...the dash
looks pretty full now.

Thanks,
John

I can help on this. Ever since I broke an oil cooler hose on my first
GMC, a '73 and would have ruined an engine, but a car behind flashed
headlights and I saw smoke and stopped 50 feet before the interstate
causeway to St. Pete, FL. I have been worried because you can't drive
and stare at guages all the time.

When VIP brought out their monitor panel I got one of the first. Has
digital readout of: Outside temp, battery voltage, oil temp, oil
pressure, engine temp, trans temp out and trans temp return from cooler.
The best feature is if any go out of range a buzzer sounds. Can be muted
temporarily with a button. I mounted panel in front of ash tray since I
don't use that. If you send snail mail address I have a picture I will
send. I also like their Towbrake since GMC does't have a lot of reserve.
I have no connection with VIP other than a being satisfied customer.
Call VIP Systems at 800-927-6778. They will send you a tape and lit.

I put in a set of guages, actually a new dash instrument panel from Mac
and Shirley at GMC Instrument Panels. This was easy to do and you can
add as many as needed to your specifications. They are at 310-515-4974.

I added 2" gauges for Air pressure and engine vacuum on an aux. panel
on left side under the drivers window, flat & level with the sill.
These are forward of the air grill.
Still planning other additions as needed. Oil Temp etc: just trying
figure where to put them myself.. :)

Oh where, Oh where, has all the space gone!!
Original option had a voltmeter slightly above and between the speedo
and cluster circles, the ash tray takes my oil temp and trans temp
gauges, now all I need is space for 30 or so more. I know a guy who
removed the radio, put it in the tv cabinet, and created 3 more
spaces. He' s in the middle of making a light oak dash panel for me.
Another thought!!

I have been having a lot of trouble with AOL I sent a message last night
that I did not get back. So here it is again....sorry if you all got it.
Saw an ad for a digital dash for GMC motorhomes Custom Instrumentation
1-800-GMC-PNLE dont know anything about them.

Thanks, I'll let everyone know what sort of feedback I get from various
vendors.
