After a few notes/calls from GMC friends, I thought I'd better tell Y'All:
Yesterday we had very heavy rain and winds for an hour or so in 3
different waves, but nothing very serious. The yard man, when he comes
tomorrow will have LOTS of pine cones and dead leaves to pick up on our 3
acres, but that's all.

Neighbors 32 miles south, in Albany, weren't so lucky: A tornado killed 2
there and put lots of debris on the streets. Not nearly as bad there as 120
mile east, though -- that's where the trailer park got wiped out in Adel,
GA, killing 11.

Thanks for thinking of us,

Ken H.

Ken, I logged on just now hoping to see exactly what you just wrote. Glad
your safe.

Hey Ken, would you explain to us west coast folks, exactly what it is that
keeps you so attracted to Georgia? It sure can't just be the peaches. Maybe
it is the water moccasins, cottonmouths, insects, tornadoes, torrential
rains, oppressive humidity, high temperatures? Did I leave anything out?
Glad you are all O.K.

It's the lack of earthquakes, forest fires, volcanos and mudslides :)

Ken's at home there. Strong family ties. However, nice to consider mild winters, reasonable real estate prices, low tax rates, low cost of living,
quaint small town, where everybody knows your name.

Well, with all the help I've already gotten, I can't offer much more, 'cept
maybe:

1. No Snow
2. Been a regular visitor here since 1937
3. No Snow
4. Half way between HER folks and our kids
5. No Snow
6. My Service Rack
7. No Snow
8. Too much GMC junk to move
9. No Snow
10. And finally, NO SNOW!

Ken H.

Ken, you know that our major concern was that you and your family are O.K.
Heck, the snow melts, we haven't had a volcanic eruption since 1980.
Earthquakes? You probably have more of those than we do. Family? Very, very
important. I agree. I married Judy 3 years ago and gained two very special
daughters. The oldest one has stage 4 cancer in her esophagus, lungs, spine
and liver and kidneys. She is being tended to by hospice presently. Judy is
with her for the duration. I am back and forth between Oregon and Ca. I
feel about as useful as a bucket under a bull. Hate it.
Glad my GMC Friends in Georgia are good.

We were hoping you were OK there and weathered the storm. I was watching the radar in you area and had some concerns.

We are happy that you are OK.

Thanks for the update.

Oh yes. No Snow here and temperatures in the 50's.

Finn has not been very happy this winter with no snow to play in.

A very strong privacy ethic, and 'every man's home is his castle to do with as he pleases'. The PNW is the only part of the country I haven't spent
time in, the preceeding are impressions from a daughter and an aunt and uncle. Like Ken though, there's now too much junk to move.

Johnny, I know what you mean about having too many good spares (aka junk)
to want to move it. Same here. Someone in my past told me that their goal
was to live long enough to become a problem for their kids. Should work in
my case. Anyway, to stay on topic, you and any other of my non met yet
friends are welcome here. Stop by and plug in, stay a few days. Judy and I
will show you around Oregon. We Have an occasional tornado here, but
nothing like tornado alley.

Well..........ya'all could add no humidity and no bugs to your list IF we were talking about southern Oregon! Maybe not the no snow this year, but no snow all the other fourteen years we have lived here. Grin.

No way! I made it clear to HER a long time ago that I, being a GMC owner,
don't have time for yard work. For a while SHE disagreed. Then SHE
watched me on the ZTR mower: My philosophy is that if it gets in the way,
it needs to be cut. :-) She found someone to come twice a week and work
for a reasonable wage.

He's a blessing! Our 3 acres (much of it covered with azaleas and other
shrubbery, plus the big driveway, house, guest house, shop, RV shelter, and
Sea-Land storage container) was covered with pine cones, dead limbs,
armadillo holes, and other debris at 0700 this morning. By 1500 it looked
pristine again. :-))

We were there this past fall and I would really like to see the azaleas and
other flowering plants in March/April. Their yard looks like a botanical
garden.

We also met their special gardener. He has his work cut out for him, but
it was obvious he takes great pride in his work.

Ken and Elaine have a typical Southern yard and are typical Southern
hosts. Glad your area was spared.

We're home, Ken. We plan to go to Shawnee, but will come directly back
home. Expect to see you there.

Bob has been fighting bronchitis for about two and a half weeks, but we're
expecting him to get better soon.

Thanks for the offer(S). Still planning to be in Dillard for the eclipse
in August. If he's well, we may be in and around Georgia prior to the
eclipse.
