Take the cap off your inspection window, hold down your primer and light the
pilot with a hand lighter.

I did that for years with a furnace that lost its ability to provide a
spark. Keep holding the primer (by pass) until the pilot stays lit. I had to
do that at the start of my trip because the coach dash heater would not keep
the coach warm enough. Darn 73's.

Unfortunately I can only reach the inspection window by removing the whole front panel. Your suggestion might help to confirm that the problem is with
the igniter but it wouldn't be viable long term.
