Fuel pump alternatives?

Do they provide the depth required? Looks like it'd be pretty close to the limit to me.
Here is a link to the actual article from above. It shows installing one into a 5" deep tank and says the kit is for tanks 7 to 12" deep. Then says modifications were required due to the more shallow tank, but give no information on what or how to do these modifications.
