I have used 300 to 350 miles for the last 40 years. Have driven several
times from Fremont to the John Wayne Airport in SoCal without fueling.

Here in Oregon, we travel through the Columbia River Gorge frequently and
encounter headwinds in the range of 45 to 70 mph occasionally. That wreaks
havoc on fuel economy with a "streamlined barn door" like the GMC. So it
pays to not press your luck on fuel range. I err on the side of common
sense and caution on miles traveled between refueling stops.

With my EFI return into the Aux tank, I always know I have 6 gallons
available there. So, if I'm willing to wait more than about 250-300 miles
for a pit stop, I drive on the Main tank until the first stumble, select
Aux, and go to the nearest station. I very rarely put in more than 35
gallons of gas.

I refuel about every 200 miles. Use the restroom , eat, drink, check oil, tires and just stretch my old long legs.
