The filter of choice in the past was an AC PF-883 Power steering filter.

That filter is no longer made and is not available, not even on eBay.

There are several that are a good substitutes.

O’Reilly’s: https://www.oreillyauto.com/search?q=991FLT2

Advance Auto Parts: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/cardone-power-steering-filter-20-0038f/10417593-P?searchTerm=power%20steering%20filters

This is the setup that I use along with a cooler as the pump imparts heat into the fluid. The cooler that I have are a Ford flat plate type unit and there are many other available to use.

I strongly advise against that Cardone filter from Advance Auto. It
appears identical to the one that caused all of my problems. It contains a
tiny SS screen about 3/8" in diameter.

I also cannot recommend the one from OReilly, which appears identical to
the Edelmann 70700 and AutoZone's Duralast 70702, which I'm running. If
you look at the Amazon 1-Star ratings on the Edelmann, you'll find that 15%
of the customers reporting have rupture or less severe leakage problems
with them -- too much risk for me; I'll be replacing mine soon.

I'll be looking for a large filter with a sealed metal housing, just on
general principles.
