Replaced rear shocks a couple of days ago, 3 out of 4 were bad. Thought
i'd replace fronts today even tho alignment shop said they were good. (
shocks were bilsteins) Anyway jacked up front end and blocked under lower
control arm, according to manual, removed mounting bolts and couldnt get
shocks off of lower stud, not enough room thru hole in upper control
arm. Who's got the answer. must be something simple. Also still trying
to improve steering, did the heintz gearbox adjust today and think that
it helped. Still think I want to replace the shaft, coupling and U-joint
connection between steering wheel and box. Would like to hear from
someone who has replaced box . That seems like a lot of money (600.00)
for a maybe fix.

Either jack up the wheel, or lower the vehicle a bit with the block under
the wheel. The A arms will move to a more horizontal position, and you can
get the shock out. When I did mine, I used a floor jack under the wheel and
could adjust as needed.

Thanks Tim... I had the wheel raised about 4 inches off the ground with
blocks under the a-arm taking most of the weight as per service manual.
dIdn't try jack under tire, but will. Thanks
