Just finished tightening up the nut and two bolts and nuts on my lower ball joints again, does anyone know if there was possibly a different taper
between the auto and gmc knuckles. I'm asking because I installed the spare knuckles that came with my gmc when I bought it. It was first the right
and once I got it tightened down the second time its been ok now the left loosened up. I got the new balljoints from Applied a few years ago so they
should not be the problem. Anyone else have this problem. Oh, yes once I got it all tightened back up I lost about half my torque steer and it drove
like it's suppose to. Thanks.

Skip, double check and verify that the machined tapered surface of the ball
joint DOES NOT extend below the surface of the knuckle. If is does, either
the ball joint is the incorrect taper for the knuckle, or, the knuckle is
worn so badly in the tapered portion as to be unusable. If you pull the
nut/washer assembly tighter and the joint pulls against them, you will not
be tight on the tapers. Bad stuff will surely follow. Use a strong light
and verify this.
