Here's a change of pace,

I'm trying to drop the front ceiling cap in my 1977 Royale and have run into
an obstacle. All the screws/bolts are out (channel trim and ceiling), rear
view mirror and visors. Howsomever, there are two rivets on each side thru the
channel trim (where the curtain slides) that are not just thru the trim and
cap but seem to be attached to the roof itself. Am I missing something - did
someone replace a couple of bolts with rivets - stripped threads? Cap is loose
front and rear and on solid on the sides.

Before I drill out the rivets and do something irreverseable, could someone
review the drop process for me. Course the only diagram I've got of this area
is the exploded view in the parts manual.
On paper this looked fairly straight forward.....sigh

FYI,
This GMC belonged to a flying club at one time and has a number of sealed roof
penatrations. I've bought a roof mounted DBS dish and want to see if any of
the existing holes can be used.
