I bought the Toronado Front Rotors from auto zone. #5512 . They are very
nicely built ( Made in CANADA) BUT in addition to there being 5 holes
instead of 4 there are a few difficulties.
1. The center hole which slides over the hub is much smaller on the
Toronado rotor. This would require machining in order to enlarge the hole.
3. The 5 hole pattern does not have the same radius for the bolt pattern.
That means that 1 hole that lines up has to be oblong.
3. When the one hole is lined up the 3 that need to be drilled fall not
between existing holes but rather very close to certain existing holes.

Shame really because the other dimensions are perfect. Is there perhaps a
different Toronado rotor that works out better ?
BTW Cinnibar quotes $84 for rotors vs $37 at Autozone. Unfortunatly looks
like we are stuck on this one

Bill:

I checked with Bobby Moore about your observations of the AutoZone rotor.
He acknowledges that the center hole does require enlargement and that the
new bolt holes will be in closer proximity to the original one's, and has
been involved in doing so. He feels that there is little concern about the
bolt hole proximity, reasoning that they are just used to hold the rotor to
the hub and that the clamping force of the caliper onto the rotor does the
real work.

Bobby says the requisite machine work is ~ $25.00, but feels that this
process may not be for everyone.

I must say that my previous comments about the new bolt holes being midway
between the original was based on looking at a picture of one's prepared for
the rear vs. the front brakes. There is a difference I find out. Sorry for
the confusion.

If the original bolt holes were desired to be filled, they can be
welded/brazed shut. Such a process requires the whole rotor to be uniformly
heated so as not to induce warping.
