I just found a leak in the fresh water tank in our new to us coach, is there anything to watch out for when I remove it to inspect? do the screws for
sending sensors just unscrew ( the screws are covered in silicone )and does it just lift out after unhooking all hoses?
It feels like a crack on the bottom,
can this be repaired or am I stuck buying a new one? are they available that fit same space?
1978 Royale rear twin.
thanks
Joe

The tanks can be welded but if it is original they have steel nuts that the sensor screws into and the nuts rust which seem to cause small cracks and leak. Probably why the silicone. Small leaks go unnoticed and can cause dry rot and mold over time. If you plan on keeping the GMC for a while best to replace, I did mine 20 years ago with new tank that has brass nuts and it still holds well. I think it was from applied or cinnabar.
