Sully,

Voila!

I don't know if you were aware that the Egyptians worshiped a god in the shape of a cat!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bastet

Quote: " Cats in ancient Egypt were revered highly, partly due to their ability to combat vermin such as mice, rats (which
threatened key food supplies), and snakes-especially cobras."

Never been a huge cat fan but a neighbor of mine somewhere close has this
black cat which I have been seeing in the back yard. Seeing him ( or her?)
a bunch. Saw the cat hauling a catch briskly across my yard a couple weeks
ago then being the incredibly smart guy I like to think of myself as I
figured it out. My yard is the cats hunting ground. "Caught" the cat under
the gmc a little over a week ago. Never loved a cat so much.

A local vet has a reader board on his lawn with specials and witty
comments on it. A while back, it read: "Two thousand years ago, cats
were worshipped. THEY HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN!"

Kitty God's name was Bast.

Ron,

I have a plaque that reads:

Dogs have owners, cats have staff!

I have a hand painted picture of Bast on papyrus I bought when I was in Cairo. MANY years ago.

I definitely encourage Jeff the cat to dispose of as many of the furry little treats he can.
He's quite good at it, good enough we have to do a mouth check before letting him in lest he brings a new play toy/snack into the house.
And yes, we are definitely staff

When we were living in Hong Kong it was not uncommon for Helen and I to be awoken in the middle of the night by high pitched
screams. It would turn out that Shadow had caught a mouse or other rodent and had brought it into the house to play with.

She would back the rodent into a corner (usually the steps that led to the master bedroom) and then give it a smack with one of her
front paws causing it to scream.

I'd get up, go to the kitchen, get a tea towel, go back to the stairs, toss the tea towel over the rodent as that way I could pick
it up without fear of getting bitten; rabies was present in Hong Kong. I'd take her play toy out to the back yard and toss it over
the wall. When I'd come back in she'd be searching frantically for her toy. When we moved we found a desiccated field mouse behind
the dining room sideboard.
