Marilyn & Arden,
This coach is located north of LA in the San Fernando Valley & is for sale
by Children's Fund Auto. (All vehicles are donated & the proceeds go to the
Children's Fund)
I was up in the area today & stopped to take a look at
it.The picture looks
much better than the real thing, the paint is not only peeling but large
sections are bare aluminum. The red paint on the lower section must have
been sprayed with a can & the bumpers & everything else has a lot of
overspray.
It appears that someone converted it to a motorhome (not professionally
done) many years ago and the interior is in very bad condition. (Due to poor
workmanship & deterioration)
The one nice point was a overhead tray that extended across the front of the
coach which was attached to the headliner above the windshields. (There was
some discussion about installing a shelf in this area a few months ago) This
shelf was padded and the sunvisors were mounted to the shelf with matching
padding.
I would suspect that the shelf was professionally made by someone other that
the one who converted the transmode to a motor home.
The salesman said that he thought the engine was a 455 (I can't tell the
difference between a 455 & a 403 since I have a 500 Cad in my coach & have
seen very few other coaches) He said it ran very well but did not offer to
let me take it for a drive. I cannot imagine it could be in very good
mechanical condition based on the the condition of the rest of the coach. He
also said he did not know the name of the owner but said it was donated by
the original owner.
The asking price was $5200 and the lot manager said they had refused an
offer of $3,800.
I think the unit has been there for quite a while & will probably be there a
lot longer. In my opinion the total interior would have to be gutted (Except
for the overhead shelf) and redone.
Dave, I did't forget. I found a battery receipt in the coach with the name
Gene Stark
