Today I removed the final drive cover to change the gear oil and to install the Ragusa final drive cover. After you remove the final drive cover; how
do you determine the final drive ratio?

Thanks,

Count the teeth on the ring gear and call me so I can look it up for you.

To Jim K.and all, some final drives in some vehicles have the tooth count for the ring gear
and the pinion stamped on the outer part of the ring gear and somewhere (maybe the pinion shaft)
of the pinion gear, as it's maybe possible that some ratios may have the same pinion gear count as
as different ratio, but the gears must be used in sets as the gears can actually have different size teeth
but the same count. ( So I'm told.) Nissan(Datsun) Z cars and 510's 610's etc are examples I know of.
Do GMC Motorhomes have the tooth count stamped, engraved or whatever somewhere on the gears?
Thanks in advance

They do on factory gearsets, not always on aftermarket stuff.
