The 1966 and 67 planetary differentials (all 3.21:1) used
the 8-bolt cover and everything after that is 10-bolt.
Also, since nobody answered your question awhile back
about removing the rear hub seal without damaging it,
I'll tell you another old mechanics trick. Remove the
bearing retaining nut, shake out the washer and outer
bearing, replace the nut and jerk the hub off the spindle.
Gravity will cause the hub to slide down the spindle and
the nut will catch the inner bearing and seal, leaving them
hanging undamaged on the spindle. I can do it quicker
than I can type this.
