I was fortunate enough again to have GMCMI fall rally just 3 hours away, so I sneak away from 4 days of being at work and was able to attend for the
week. I used to really enjoy Dan Gregg's photos and commentary on the conventions, and I have taken better photos in the past. This year many
friends that attended had some nice photos of the happenings on facebook, but most here probably did not see any of them, so I posted a few over at my
blogsite, so others can enjoy.
I think this is the 3rd full GMCMI Rally I have been able to really attend, and the 2nd time my coach had been able to be at one(both at chippewa
falls) I did do a day trip to one in my early GMC ownership years when Dan insisted I at least show up to see what it is about.
We missed many who did not attend. I think they had about 85 coaches, and I heard over 100 registrants. I heard 29 1st time attendees, and I know
many of those are very recent GMC owners. I did not hear any of those claim that it was a waste of time, and at least 2 were bummed that they could
not attend the entire time.
Pretty cool things to see and do. they were installing windshields Saturday from 8am till Midnight and again back at it from 8am until at least 3pm
on Sunday. Walt's coach was constantly circling the fairgrounds as he had everyone testing his brakes. He may need new pads when he gets home from
all the stops! He even did a breaking contest against wally one morning(wally's coach did stop quicker). Coaches were weighed, headlights alined.
I swapped out an owners airbags. One water pump was swapped out last weekend, but I think there was not too many major repairs. One guy brought
his coach in on a gooseneck trailer on purpose. there was a oversized GMC mounted on a class A chassis to check out. Plenty of food, good
information shared.
Also a shout out to Sirum GMC for having a small crew on hand with parts to buy without paying shipping. They even installed a couple items for
people, but more importantly sharing knowledge and helping guide many of the 29 new GMC owners on some proper repairs and what to watch out for to
keep their coaches off the back of a tow truck. other venders such as JimK, JimB, DaveL, and others took time for virtual presence and answered
questions for attendees as well.
so here are a few photos for those that could not make it, and a reminder of the fun for those that did:
