Thanks for all of you that helped out on the oak veneer question. I guess
that the answer is that it is no longer available and that we will have to
look at all of your suggestions to see what works best for us.

It is great to have resources such as all of you on the GMC-net to help me
through this project.

Not to change the subject but...

A relative of mine works as an engineer for a large automaker whose name
starts with the first two letters of GMC. Paul Bartz met him during the
I-94 incident. One of the tasks he had was designing the installation of
the automatic leveling system in mini-vans and luxury car lines. He asks
why the standard GMC leveling system (he knows the part number off the top
of his head) can not be used as a leveling system for our ladies. The
unit, which includes a compressor and sophisticated logic circuits, is not
expensive and can be pulled off any number of junk cars.

The system is meant for solid axle vehicles so two might be in order, maybe
three to give left-right and front back capabilities. Is this already being
done, not necessary (Paul is an advocate of "hold and ride"), not
economically feasibleor not possible, . I know of one engineer who might
be able to assist us in designing something..If not, he is two doors down
from a guy who is designing the next generation of these units.

I know we have a few special features that we are already working on. All
were installed on our 73 Painted whatever by the PO.

1) Exhaust/neighborhood waker with one holey glasspack
2) Dry bath (the only place in the unit without a leak)
3) Frame coating automatic transmission fluid dispenser
4) Random wiper action unit. Acuates on every bump!
5) Continuous action windshield washer pump
6) Automatic without warning headlight turner off-er
7) Built in aroma generator/appetite reducer/holding tank

We will definatly be looking for some fun and challenging projects once the
basics are taken care of.
Sorry about the rambling

This sounds like the system that Cadillac went to in about 1978 and later;
is it not also the same as "Electro Level II" used in late 1978 GMC's? It
would likely be a very good retrofit for earlier coaches. And yes, there are
lots of the compressors rotting away in wrecking yards.
