Subject: Parking blocks

I saw a pretty neat trick accomplished by Dave Lowry in Santa Barbara
and will get these when I go to Camping World next time. He purchased a
set of rotating plates on a metal rod. One plate sets on the ground the
other is above the rod and is rotated until the correct height is
reached. He raises his coach with the air bags, inserts the plates and
rod rotates them up till they touch the center of the Bogies and then
releases the air in the bags. This raises the wheels off the ground
about a 1/8 inch and takes all the weight off the air bags and the two
sets of plates are light not bulky and store quite easily in the
compartment where the propane tank is located. I thought it looked
pretty neat. Incidentally Dave has MS and is in one of those motorized
wheel chairs. He is a very knowledgeable about GMC's and his wife
drives the rig and does most all the things Dave would like to do but
just can not. What a great Couple of People they are!

Sorry to bother you at the GMC note book but apparently I've got the
wrong address or Rich put his in wrong. Thanks Chuck

Subject: Macerator Pump

Hi Rich! This is Chuck from Lompoc, CA. We have a 78 Eleganza. The
macerator is installed on the Drivers side for the obvious reason of the
exhaust system on the passenger side. The pump is rubber mounted and
the dispensing end has a hose that runs to the end of the coach along
the rear of the frame and on the inside and then a "T" with a piece of
hose pipe going to each side following the under frame at the rear of
the coach with screw on MALE connevctions ands caps at each end. This
allows you ease at either side of the GMC for use. Beneath the coach
the main drain was cut into with an elbow installed this keeps water in
the main elbow and does not allow odors to continue out of the system.
Also it is a moveable connection so as not to be too ridgind. It is
placed just prior to the main dump piece that can be raised or lowered.
I have found the macerator to ge completely reliable over all these
years and have never had to use the main drain accept by choice in a
camp site where it is easier to just install it in the main drain owhen
we will be parked for more than a day or so. Then you just go out and
pull the gate valve lever near the genset. I like it this way and have
not caused any real changes to the GMC other than cutting into the pipes
whichj is not evident unless you crawl beneathe the coach. Also the
starter switch was mounted on the left hand side (drivers) side at the
rear into the fiberglass cap and just beneathe the bumber area out of
sight. Works for Us. Chuck PS You might want to get a rebuild kit for
the macerator as the thing oveer time might start to leak a bit. I have
rebuilt mine once in 10 years.
