Just to pass along, if anyone is interested in getting their original Delco dash radio repaired, I shipped mine off to this guy in Arizona. Please don't ask how much it was (it was alot, but I was prepared). He has prices on his website, and there's a link on the video here. He rebuilt the internal 8-track as well and added Bluetooth to it.

Some advice if you do use him:
Do not be in a hurry to get it back. He's super busy (I knew that going in) and turnaround time was approximately 3 months. Also, you gotta follow his instructions to a tee. If you don't you'll get your unit back unrepaired. I get it, he's very busy and very precise in what he does, and is good at it, from what I can tell.

He tests all of his work and uploads it to youtube, which is a good idea.

I got the radio back and installed. Works perfectly! I can now talk hands-free on the phone, as well as listen to my Spotify through it. 8-track works again, yaaa! I need to find new/better speakers that will fit both the front and the back.

That's fantastic - if I had an original radio - I'd likely entertain that route for the cool factor...
8-tracks - quadraphonics (surround sound before it was a thing) - yea baby

But, since my coach came with no radio - I am looking at one of these...

My GMC had a 1990s Kenwood cassette deck when I got it, i "retro-graded" to a original Delco AM/FM 8-track CB that I had modified with a 3.5mm input. Delco radios use a unique 8 ohm speaker so you need to make sure you get the right ones.

I got my speakers here http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm

The fronts are the 3 1/2" round and the rear are the 4x10" Slimline Ovals.

Scotty,
I suggest that you look up what "8-Track" really does before you get too pumped up about it.

That's the first time I've seen the factory CB. Cool ! Thanks for the info on the speakers. I will inquire.

I appreciate your input, and I do know what 8-track does - - I had a few growing up

I also enjoyed when quadraphonic was introduced and avail on 8-track -fond memories
Scotty,
Can you tell what company produced four channel equipment that used an 8-track (endless loop) tape drive as an audio source? I was never asked to do anything for such a beast.

a simple internet search should yield the results your looking for. Here are two examples - there are several more.

Thank You Scotty,
That is neat. I did not know about those devices. I never got asked to service one.
Unfortunately, I was well into Cassette tape by then. Even with the dead slow tape speed (15/16) instead of 3-1/2, the damage that the Lear endless tape does to itself makes it short lived, so it is a toss-up there.
Enjoy them. I did set a system to clean and relubricate the 8-track tapes. I have not seen the device in decades, but if it surfaces, I will offer it to you.
