You must use the internal filter because it is the oil pickup for the
tranny. There are several remote filters on the market. Camping world
list one and the price is not bad. I bought the parts and put my own
filter assy together. The filter assy is a TD performance products
remote filter base #1055 and the filter is a Deutsch D539 (Autozone).
You could also use a PH8A Fram, PER1A purolator or any other filter that
would cross. I also added a oil cooler, I got mine from Meijer's. It
is a Imperial Maxicool 18 1/2" by 8" by 1 1/4" good for GVW of 22,500
lbs. Cost me $44.95

Looking for specific reference/recommendation for EXTERNAL TRANNY FILTER.
And if external filter is used, can internal filter be eliminated or must it
be retained to maintain correct fluid flow through the xmission?
Thanks

I am going to add the external filter but will leave a new tranny filter in
place when I do it. Just will not worry about replacing it in the future.
