Those that responded with lots of elbow grease are on
the right track. I found Turtle Wax rubbing to do a
great job with a damp cloth and buffing before it drys
too much. Don't put it on heavy.

I'd recommend a good rubbing compound, just be careful of how much paint you
have left on the coach, especially if you are using a mechanical polisher,
followed by an application of wax. Someone put me onto this wax called
"Fleet Wax". It is popular around boat yards, but has worked well on our
land yacht too, and lasts a long time!

Good luck with the shining!

FWIW, I have used Wesley's car wax in the past for difficult jobs. It
really brought out the paint's flavor. However, I have been unable to find
any for several years. The company was bought out by Blue Coral and I think
their wax is now the same product. A will a---- guess. I use it now.
Might pay in elbow grease to just pick some up and try it first. Easy to
apply, easy to get film off. The Wesley's was also good on removing tar as
you waxed.

Hope this hasn't led you astray as I don't have any old cars to work it on
to find out.

Ok, found something to try out my auto waxes on that definitely needed some
attention so on my PhotoPoint album GMC, the pictures are there to compare
some waxes. Please note that this carefully planned and executed wax test
took all of about 5 minutes. Needless to say, there was no elbow grease and
won't be any coming from me. I'm retired.

I spent a lot of time on this and expect some nice comments.{:>)

Nice demo Roger! Any idea what kind of paint was used on the
lawnmower? Nah, didn't think so.

Now when are you going to get a dumpster-like GMC and use the stuff for real?

Excellant experiment done under the most scientific
conditions, far as I can tell.
Thanks for the research, isn't the Wesley Liquid the
one that is not available now?

Also thanks to all who have responded to my question
about "What would you buy".

Henry,
Shame on you, I know what kind of paint was used---RED. Can't tell it by
looking at it though.

As for the other, I'm working on beating out Travis. Everyone thought I was
the longest to hold out, but he's admitted to three years. I'm only half
way there.

Hi Gary & Susan;

I second the elbow grease route. I did it in 2 stages, mixing the wax with
something called Liquid Ebony to give a little more dead paint removing
power to the Nu-Finish. Then removed the hazy film left behind with straight
Nu-Finish and a clean cloth(Liquid Ebony is a fairly mild polishing
compound). It can take alot of elbow grease, so do little areas at a time.
It won't look like new, but you can get a respectable shine. walter bright,

Looked at the info... cant tell which one looks best.

with as much time as he spent doing it, you would expect excellent results.
