We're looking at what we need to do to the interior of our coach in the next round of rebuilds/improvements. I've noticed a
number of coaches advertised for sale with painted modules. Have any of you had experience with painting the modules? What
kind of paint etc? My wife is concerned about peeling, blistering and the like when paint goes over the laminate.

We're considering an off-white, beige, or another lighter color for the modules. We plan to replace the existing lockers with
custom built units in a light wood such as oak.

Comments welcome.

I painted all verticle surface areas in my motorhome (See GMC MH MP-Jan
'98 issue) about 2 years ago. After consulting with my son, who is a
knowledgable coatings guy with Home Depot at the time, the process was as
follow:

1. Light sanding (80 or 100 grit paper-Don't recall exactly)
2. Apply 1st undercoat
3. Sand lightly (same)
4.Apply 2nd undercoat
5. Sand lightly
6. Apply first top coat
7. Sand lightly
8. Apply finish coat.

I used a Behr white enamel undercoater and a very light Taupe top coat,
satin finish latex.

I used a small (perhaps 6") foam roller. The job took me a week end,
including all drawer and cabinets. I taped areas I didn't want painted
(worked most of the time [g] ).

About 6 months ago I had to touch up some scratches caused by my folding
bikes Which we stow under our rear dinette. Paint has held up really
well. Seems sanding is the answer to good adhesion.

The lighter paint has modernized the interior and improved light
reflection.

We also decided one of us was too old to crawl aross the rear double bed
so we designed and had Alex Sirum GMC build two 76" x 34" beds opposite
each other where the couch and dinette had been.

Two large drawers were built in under each bed (moving weight toward the
bow) and the beds themselves raise on gas struts to provide an additional
3-4" of storage. The magazine photos show the bed arrangement quite
clearly. The painted areas show up in one photo.

We are quite satisfied with the rearrangement. It workd for us!

Let me know if any additional info is required.
