Exaust Manifold Leaks

A couple of weeks ago there was some E mail on this subject and someone
said, "Too bad there isn't a solid copper exhaust gasket out that would
seal properly and act as a heat sink". Well thanks to my Mustang and
Fords Magazine subscription, I found one. I spoke with Mr. Gasket folks
and the P/N for the 455 gasket is 7170. It is a solid copper gasket at
.043 with raised bosses around the ports. That ought to stop all these
leaks and help to disipate heat to keep the manifolds cooler to avoid
cracking. According to Mr. Gasket you do not need to surface the head
and manifold unless they are off a country mile. The copper should seal
most applications without surfacing.
This is a new product according to my magazine and I don't know the
prices yet. I'm getting a set for my 351 Cleveland also.

Phil, is there a part number for the 403 engine? If so could you send
itto me. Thanks. L.J.
 
As noted before Buskirk Enterprises sells copper gaskets for the 455 engines
at 810-648-3963. Why not go to the expert (Clarence Buskirk) on the GMC
motorhome???
