Just got a call from Eric Tipton. He is having transmission problems in
Paso Robles, CA. Symptoms: slipping in third gear, can't get above 45 miles
per hour in either third or second, 15,000 miles on a rebuilt transmission,
Eric says RPM goes up speed stays constant. It is not the fan. Any
suggestions/ places where he can get help?

Irene (Henry is up on the mountain and asked me to send the message)

Call Al Topp who lives in Los Osos. He has a guy who has a gmc and
is good at working on them. Phone number: (805) 528-8208. Only
problem is that he was going in the hospital sometime around the
middle of June and I don't know what's up yet.

He called me also, but I did not get the symptoms...
wonder if it is his governor gears and he is stuck in low ??

The thought crossed my mind but he said that the RPMs increased without any
increase in road speed. Seems like that pretty much ruled out the governor.

I want to thank everyone for there assistance, especially Gene, Henry
and Larry. The final diagnosis is a fired transmission. I am not
really sure of the cause. The coach is at a shop my son recomended in
Arroyo Grande. We ordered a rebuilt from Tony Dunn. It is being sent
by air to Onterio where we will pick it up on Thursday. It shoul be
installed on Friday and hopefully we can head for home late Friday.

After we get home I will install a temp guage. I am thinking about a
digipanel. Any thoughts - I will have limited access to e-mail until
next Monday.

Thanks again to all the GREAT people on the Black list. I will file a
full report when we are safely at home.
