Entry door hinge pins

Thank you all for advice regarding the air bags. You guys are great.

Lab table supports..... That must have been some lab table!

Another question, if I may:

I want to replace the plastic sleeves in the entry door hinges. Mine have
crumbled away. But how do I remove the old hinge pins?

I'm concerned that I will bend the hinges if I try to drive the pins out
from the bottom with the door still on the coach. Would heating the hinge
loosen things up? Or is there a puller of some kind that can grab the head
of the pin and pull it out?

I removed mine the other day and they pushed out very easily with a thin
punch. You might try putting some penetrant on them first.

At Marion someone was selling bushings so a bunch of us started pounding
on the pins and finally with the right tool did replace all the bushings.

The right way to remove the pin is with a tool that acts like a
puller.Someone with more tech-telligence can explain it better but a
puller with a modification was borrowed from the bushing seller and we
did 3 or 4 coaches before happy hour.

A good spray bath with wd 40 etc helps.

I'd like to purchase a screen door for our GMC. Anybody know how to reach A. Birch or if someone else is selling his doors?

When we replaced ours, we just slit the new ones and siliconed them in.
They have been on for two years with no problems. If you look close
enough, you can tell they were slit, but most people would think that the
slits were factory anyway. We did have the door off to work on it a little
before our paint job, but after we got it on, got it aligned and adjusted
perfectly, and painted it, we didn't want to pull it off again just to put
the new sleeves on. We figured we would do more damage to the paint taking
the door off than we would fix with the new sleeves. When we took the door
off before the paint, we unbolted the parts of the hinges that go into the
side of the motorhome. The whole hinge comes out with the door that way.
We did take the pins out after we had it off. I don't recall it being a
big project. Those hinges seem VERY strong. I would be surprised if you
bent one getting the pins out. Of course if you take the whole hinge out
with the door, you wouldn't have to get the pins out anymore.

Does anyone have drawings for the screen door that I could use to fabricate one?
