Entrance Door Window

Gents...(and Ladies)....

I noticed the other day that my entrance door window frame is separating
from the door at the top of the window. It seems to have about a 1/2 inch
gap between the frame and the door surface and is no longer sealed.

My question is about how to remove the window assembly from the door and
reinstall it.

Is the window held in by some type of mechanical fastener (which I cannot
find) or is it simply cemented in place with some type of sealer/glue?

I have a parts manual but it wasn't much help. I don't have the
maintenance manuals yet.

I would hate to be going down the road and have it fall out of the door.

P.S. GMC Mountainaries......Sorry I couldn't be at the Grand Lake Rally,
but I will be at the Mount Hood Convention. Hope to see some of you there
and am looking forward to next years rally schedule.
 
All the windows in the GMC are held in place by a clamping bracket on
the inside of the window. IF you remove carefully the White rubber
valance around the window and remove the wall covering you will see a
number of screw heads around the window. From your description if
appears that your window has slipped down in the opening. The stock
windows have a hard foam rubber gasket on the back inside edge. You
should be able to loosen the screw and reset the window or just take the
window out, put some black silicone sealer and reinstall the window.

Thanks for the info....That's just what I need.

I'll very carefully disassemble everything tomorrow and see what I can find.

John......

This morning after carefully removing the white rubber valance, I checked
for clamping brackets....guess what.....nothing. There was nothing holding
the window in. No wonder it was starting to loosen up. Not having any
clamping brackets available, I used four sheet metal screws to secure the
frame to the door. Not exactly an elegant solution but it works. One less
thing to worry about.

I am surprised! Has your coach been repainted? I know when I replaced
my windows this spring that each of them was held in place by the
clamps. I just looked in the maint manual on page 1-7 the it show that
the windows are held in place with pieces called sash retainers and screws.

John......

The coach has original paint but has had the interior redone. Very nicely
by the way. There are Day/Night Shades on all windows except the rear
bedroom. There is a Day/Night Shade on the entrance door also so the PO
may have done some work on it. The door is also slightly sprung so it is
possible that a PO may have had to replace the window at some point.
