Engine transmission replacement

First thought - Join the nearest two GMC clubs and ask. You aren't the first person in Northern California to have to take the engine out.

Second thought - When evaluating properties for purchase, an HOA is the first deal breaker, look there no further. (i've a two beer story about the
one on the next road down the highway)

Third thought - The one I used is 2200 miles away from you, surely there's one closer.

Fourth thought - Find a service with a Haynes 500 wheel lift wrecker. Run the back all the way up and tow it to Jimmy the K.

Don't know if you are being serious about the location of Newark,
California as being in northern California. It is not exactly Northern,
more like central.
Weed, Eureka, Redding, Red Bluff, now those are in Northern
California. It is 368 miles from Newark to Ashland, Oregon, just inside the
border.
Seems like further when you are driving a sick coach, I know.

While you contemplate removing and re-installing the engine through the top, consider taking the front seats out first. Keeps them clear and out of
the way. It's only 4 bolts each off the stands.

I took front seats, dinette, and bunks out. Way easier with all that space. Not a grest amount of trouble.

But Tom,

I like the idea but....

Our '73 has the angle top bases. They are taller and each has 16 bolt and nut fasteners thought the floor and frames.

I left front seats, dinette, and bunk in. No problem and a lot of time savings. I used the GMC Mountainaires overhead trolly and had plenty of room.

Unless you have duel passanger seat, there is no real advantage to do so.

So i am in the process in fabricating frank condos hoist and will keep everyone updates. I have up graded the supports to 2-1/2"flanges just incase
more support is needed.
