still going great after 290k + miles and altho I have the highest regard
for Dale Winterfeldt's technical and engineering capabilities (after all
he is an ex IBMr like me), I have heard of owners having problems after
not too many miles, Ask Bob McCarthy about his experience.

Winterfeldt used to warrant that he will come to you if you breakdown and
replace your engine on the spot. This sounds great but Dale couldn't do
this when he was in the hospital. McCarthy ended up arriving at the
GMC/Intl rally in NH with a hole in the piston. Had to have a Jasper
rebuild installed, for which Winterfeldt promised to cover, but the last
time I talked to Bob about this, that reimbursement hadn't occurred.

I also know of several cases involving Jasper rebuilds that were
problems. In one case Jasper built a 455 engine using head gaskets for a
403. The engine overheated and went back to Golby for repair. Turns out
Golby's guys replaced the wrong gasket with ANOTHER 403 gasket and the
engine blew. Ask Pat Brewer about this.

No myths.......just the facts. I think going for cheap rebuilds is risky
but even expensive rebuilds can be chancey also.
