I have a marine inline blower that I plan to use to cool down my engine area
when I shut down for a while. What's the opinion of the most effective way
for that to happen: suck or blow?

A marine blower sucks engine compartment air (which
might have fuel fumes) and blows it out large vents to
minimize the chance of explosions and fire!

If you have engine compartment side vents, have the fans blow the hot out the vent

Unless you're planning to install ductwork, having the fan blow on top of the engine will move more of the hottest air.

I just open the front hatches - that's hot air rising thing works. :)

Dean

Here is Arch’s album on how he installed a fan to cool his engine compartment after shutdown.
He had controls for timing the fan and such.
Hope this helps.
