Took Emery's advice and bought the Napa exhaust manifold gaskets and
popped them in on Friday night. The manifolds had been leaking since I
bought the coach nearly a year ago. After replacement and a test drive, I
was in love all over again. Wow, these things are quite. Anyone else
contemplating the replacement should definitely take this groups advice
regarding removing the wheel well liners. The first manifold I pulled from
the top and it wasn't too bad. I remembered recommendations about removing
the liners and although I felt it would additional time to the job I was
certainly surprised at how easy they were to remove. At that point, I might
as well have pulled up a chair for the removal of the second one. Head
cleanup and manifold re-assembly was a piece of cake. The only question I
have regarding the gaskets were the port size of the gasket compared to the
actual ports on the head. Are they supposed to match up? I have a 74 455
and the heads are J castings. I'm curious to know if they are stock.
Anyone else have a 74 to compare?
Thanks again for the valuable advice.
