ElectroLevel Valves

GMCnetters,

I've been toying with the idea of converting my coach from the
PowerLevel system to a system similar to ElectroLevel I. I've found a
source for miniature 12V air valves. 3 valves mounted on a compact
manifold would run around $145 - less with a large quantity order. Two
sets would be required for the conversion. If there's any interest, let
me know and I'll pursue it further.

Patrick,
I'm not sure whether I should be interested or not. What do you feel are
the advantages of the ElectoLevel I system over the Power Level? Thanks.

The main attraction to me is moving the controls to a more accessible
position and making them more compact. Instead of the two rotary valves
that take up about 3" x 7", you could use three small toggle or rocker
switches. I'm thinking I'd like to mount the switches along with a
Dakota digital pressure gauge just below the dash to the right of the
steering column.

I realize this is a violation of the KISS principle, but I've always
thought that the PowerLevel control valves are in an awkward position.
Also, they often end up behind a table or television!

My $.02,
Patrick

Justin,

Thanks for the lead on Ray. The valves I've found are miniature
industrial fluid control valves. Yet to be seen if they'll work on the
GMC PowerLevel system. The valves are each about the size of two Zippo
lighters and nest together on a manifold so the entire assembly of three
valves is only about 3" wide X 2.5" tall X 1.2" deep. I'm gonna' buy a
couple sets to play with.

More later,
Patrick

Patrick:

Have you checked the Humphrey Products 12 v solenoid valve? They are
available in either normally open or normally closed. P/N 310-2-12 runs
$22.45 + tax here (probably less in quantity).

Patrick,
These sound like excellent reasons to me. I know you'll let us know how
your project turns out.

Thanks Paul, I'll look into it.
