Electric fuel pump for AOnan genset

What are folks using as a replacement these days? My ham radio club has an Onan generator with defective fuel pump (about 5 to 6 kW) and I figure one for the barbarian would probably be suitable.

Just get an aftermarket one that is rated for 3-4psi

If you get a Mr. Gasket 42S, do not use the filter that comes with it. It will suck air due to poor crimp and will destroy the pump.

Out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried to plumb a pulse pump for the Onan?

Johnny,

I've never seen a pulse powered pump that I thought would be big enough for
the Onan. Anyone who's ever opened the oil cap on a running Onan knows for
sure that there's plenty of pulsation there though!

I thought about this when I put the pulse pump on the 7500 Watt Chinese set in the last coach. I suspect it burns more gas than the Onan
under load. As I suspect the V-twin Briggs engine on a lawnmowwer. However, >if< a regular one isn't sufficient, given the way they work, you could
parallel two of them as long as the pulse lines to each was equal could you not?
Testing is in order :)

I can't see why the pulse lines would need to be the same length; one could
even build a case for different lengths to get the pumps out of phase --
but probably not worth worrying about if the carb's float bowl proves to be
enough equalization.

Why do it? If you do it you will loose the ability to prime the carb. Why mess with something that works well?

Kohler twin cylinder opposed engines used a mechanical fuel pump that had a
lever you could pull and operate the pump diaphragm to prime the carb. They
worked well. Since the advent of electric pumps, those mechanical pumps are
as rare as whale bone corset stays.

Pulse [pumps ploliferate. Have a look on eBay or Amizon.

It's a much less expensive than a new Facet pump - when you can find one.
