Can I ask a dumb question? Why do you want to take out the 50 amp
cord? I have a 50 amp cord and it has not given me any trouble and
I know I can have a 2nd air conditioner if I want to later on.

I keep my 50 amp cord coiled up on the electrical compartment. I have
a 30 amp extension cord that I use to plug in. I keep that in the pod.
Over kill I guess, but someday I might want to install a 2nd air conditioner.
I also don't want to downgrade things. I only want to upgrade.
Personal preferences are what make this GMC thing work!

I don't believe anyone answered your original question. Yes, it will, but if the reason you want to replace the 50 amp cord is because
it is difficult to coil (especially when cold), there is a simple solution. I coiled 100ft. tv camera cables in mid-winter, outside
(did you say it's easier to coil a 2x4?). If you use a reverse twist on each alternate coil, the problem is resolved. It's easier to
demonstrate then describe. I coil my 50 amp cable in its cubicle w/no trouble. Maybe its because I've done it for 38 years in TV.

Chris,

If you have 1 roof AC a 30 amp service will be OK. If you ever go to 2 AC
units, you will have to put in a switcher between them to allow only one on
at a time or go back to the 50 amp service.

You could also replace the 50 amp. cable with new more flexible stuff (8ga.
4 cond. SO).

Hope this helps,
