Hello All, I didn't know where to post this on your forum, so if it needs to be somewhere else, please move it to the proper area. Also, not trying to sell anybody anything, just an update about the EBL project since I have purchased Dynamic EFI this past March.

The EBL project has been a HUGE undertaking since there is nobody to ask any questions about the pcb portion of the EBL board. We have poured over tons of schematics that Bob R had made to include drawings, files on the production PC and the other PC, tons of electronic parts that needed to be cataloged and all of Bobs notes. It has taken a while to gather the information and make sense of it all. My engineer has ripped most of his hair out now from this project, but we finally made some headway on the project. Thank you Tracy for all your hard work. 👏

Last Wed, we received the first fully populated test pcb from the manufacturer that we decided to go with and installed it into a ECM for a CFI with HAM mod and it powered up OK and seemed to work OK according to the test box we created. (see Instagram for that project XFP Instagram) We have checked the overall quality of the pcb, and the values of each component for correctness. Everything looks great. We are doing some further testing to ensure the EBL is completely functioning as expected.

The last final test will be installing it in my 82 vette, load my current tune and fire it up and drive it. If that all goes well, we will start production soon. However, we also still need to work out a couple things with the manufacturer on the PICs. We want them to program the PICs from our firmware file to save us a ton of time and shipping back and forth. They will also have the PICs on hand to place on the pcbs moving forward. A note on the EBL pcb. I do not know if any of you knew about this, but Bob R did every EBL board by hand. He installed all the electronics on that board himself and used solder masks and programmed them. I did not know that until on went to PA on a site survey and was shocked when they told me this. There was no way I was going to do that, that's why these company's that make these boards have a pick-N-place on a machine. Just throwing that out there to you all. Oh, and this was for all his boards he sold.

All in all, it is coming together and with any luck we can start full production soon. What does that mean? Aain, this intended for information on the project progression. We plan on starting the production off with the CFI ECMs and a few TBI boxes. Once that whole thing gets moving, we are looking at maybe doing the TPI boxes, but that is down the road since there is so much of a backlog of CFI/TBI owners waiting.

I hope this helps and clears up a few things for you all. Bill has emailed me a few times about the EBL project and unfortunately we had only started at that time. Now we are moving along nicely. Hope you all had a great holiday weekend. 🍻

Hi,
Thanks for taking up this project.

I was one of the first GMC motorhome owners to install the EBL on our Olds 455 engine back around 2009. Then adding spark control and a speed sensor for Decel Fuel Cut-off etc.

The EBL system has been very reliable for me over the past 16+ years.

BobR was very hands-on. Answering any question with a clear answer and explanation. One thing that was lacking and likely would have made his life easier was a complete owners manual with an explanation of the action and interaction of all the parameters. Would have saved him time answering the same questions over again from dummies like myself.

Best of luck with this project!

Thank you and I totally agree. Bob kept a lot of things to himself vs sharing in any manual which was frustrating at times for sure. I had been dealing with Bob directly for 5-6 years almost as a dealer and not a dealer. I plan on getting around to creating some manuals on some things, at some point when the dust settles, but it is a huge task at this point. We do plan on coming out with an EBL Flash III later on and have some plans for that. It should have some pretty cool stuff that I'm sure a lot of people will like. Probably have some WUD changes as well, since it does need a bit of an overhaul after looking at all the code. Bob did a good job, but change is needed.

Thank you. I installed an EBL running a gm tbi unit
On my 455 in 2019. Been great!

With the fi-tech’s, holly snipers, ect…. Lots of people for some reason go that direction. But those of us who are running the gm style tbi with an ebl know it is the best for our big olds engines. I know some that have had these running for decades now.

Good luck! And thanks!

Coming from a non-Motörhead (that was an autocorrect!) background I found Ken Henderson's XDF very helpful.

It'd be nice to be able to toggle between I Need A Little Help 😓 mode and Just Driving Around 😎mode.

Anyone here willing to help put a manual together with us? I know this is going to be a huge undertaking, but it is needed. I do not plan on starting that project right now, but would love to have a couple of people that have been working with the EBL for a long time specifically from this forum to contribute if possible. If interested, let me know. Email at: tom@xfireperformance.com Thank you in advance.
