I plan to top off a friend's AC system and I do not have the equipment to
evacuate it. Currently the compressor does not come on due to lack of fluid.
How many cans of duracool will it take? Sorry. I wasn't taking notes when
that subject came up in the past. Elaganza II 1976.

This presentation on Duracool by Emery Stora tells you everything you need to know about Duracool and converting over to it. I believe its 3 cans you
need, but the system will take something less. Its all in the presentation.

My Staff says I never listen to them, or something like that

If you want to add coolant, and your pressure is too low to cycle the
compressor, you can jumper the wire harness on the low pressure switch and
get the compressor to cycle on, so that you can add the coolant. I look for
a 45° Farenheit temp difference between ambient air and what is coming out
of your vents with everything on high. Much more than that and in high
humidity areas, you will freeze up your coils.
Just what I do.

For Canadian viewers, Red-Tek from Canadian tire, Walmart, Princess Auto etc is another refrigerant very very if not exactly like Duracool.
