Duo-Therm furnace

Sorry to bother all y'all(sorry Roger), but once again I require assistance.

My furnace doesn't work. It was and it just stopped one day.

I have the original installation manual for my 65900-926 Duo-Therm furnace,
but not the step by step procedures for getting it to work. Is there
something better than the '77/78' supplement 24G-4 for trouble shooting ?

How does one test the gas solenoid valve to see if there really is gas
getting through it?

Feed it 12 volts directly and listen for a hiss and/or smell for gas. The smoking lamp is OUT during this test.

Mike,

Pull the wires off and test for continuity between the terminals.
Besides the coil, all there is to the thing is a little flapper that
the coil pulls open. I have one with an open in the coil that
drove me crazy until I found it. The other thing is the sail switch
might have finally got crudded up where it won't move quite
enough to activate the circuit.

Netters

I spent the day ripping that pathetic excuse for a furnace out of its under
sink hidey place. I removed and eyeballed every switch and connection of
its galvanized poison little soul. In the end the gas solenoid valve and
the ignitor board were robbed from another Duo-Therm carcass and switched
to my current PIA non heating device.

What I did, I have no idea, but by day's end I had stuffed it back in place
and clicked the thermostat switch...Ignition !! That should do it until
the next time...and trust me I have pulled that thing more times than I can
count.

For the moment it works !

Irv repaired ours today. It was the sail switch wadded up with spider webs. 2 hours to take it out, PO liked long sheet metal screws and lock nuts.
Irv checked the board, gas switch power and hooked up a propane bottle on the picnic table in about 5 minutes. We got heat.. thanks Irv..

Some people are just efficient and others like myself spend 10 minutes
looking for a wrench that they already had in their left hand. I spent
about 6 hours on mine, but the end result was the same...heat !
I should get Irv a beer.I know I'm having one! :)

Yall make tghe mod to the bottom board of the cabinet like mine is, and it's way easier top get out and in. Chuck's seen it. You cut away about half
of the bottom door frame and it gives you enough room to slide the furnace out the cabinet door.

Do you have a picture of that cut . Something tells me it will be out
again, the question is how soon? :)
